Bloom (sometimes referred to as light bloom or glow) is a computer graphics effect used in video games, demos and high dynamic range rendering (HDR) to reproduce an imaging artifact of real-world cameras. The effect produces fringes (or feathers) of light extending from the borders of bright areas in an image, contributing to the illusion of an extremely bright light overwhelming the camera or eye capturing the scene.

This kind of effect, if overused, could take the player's eye to be stressed a lot during gameplay from extreme bright light, but often this effect is even disabled because generally it stress a lot GPU stress computing of full rendered scenes in videogames (with a big FPS, frame per second, performance hit).

In Borderlands The Pre-Sequel the bloom effect is enabled by default, but if disabled it will increase the overall performances, a lot.

To disable bloom effect permanently in game we need to open the engine configuration file, located generally at:

C:\Users\$YOUR_USERNAME$\Documents\My Games\Borderlands The Pre-Sequel\WillowGame\Config\WillowEngine.ini

Borderlands The Pre-Sequel - Disable Bloom to boost performance

Now we will have to search for the following text string, [ System Settings ], and then change the text of Bloom=True to Bloom=False.

That's all. :-)
